The power pole is usually installed underground within 70 feet from the job site, and needs to be connected to either a wired power supply or generator. If the temporary power supply system is using a wired supply, the power pole will be connected to a permanent utility source near the job site, however if the nearest utility source is not nearby, a gas powered generator can be used as an alternative. The power panels used can either be metered or unmetered. An unmetered panel does not have a limit on bandwidth, whereas a metered panel has a bandwidth limit.

The cost and setup of a temporary power supply system is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to the job site size and layout, and the type of generators, power poles and panels used.
